One of the experiences that the majority of our members share, is breast surgery. Whether it be a Sentinel Node Biopsy, Lumpectomy, Mastectomy or anyone of the myriad of reconstruction options, patients experience a significant amount of pain and discomfort and often leave hospital with a number of drains in place. With this understanding in mind, Breast Friends York have joined together with members of the public to create a sewing group called the Supportive Sewers, to make pillows and drain bags which are donated to the Breast Care Nurses at York District Hospital. The Breast Care Nurses or ward staff then give the items to patients following their surgery.
